Does anyone have any ideas for basic home internet bases businesses?
Let me add this, I’m not looking for a get rich quick scheme. I’m just looking for ideas that people may have for legitiment home businesses based online.

The ideas need to come from you. Ive been setting people up on internet for as long as its been called internet. I can tell you how to setup an impressive website for free. You can sell anything you want on commission thru the tons of affiliate programs available.

But such sites make it or fail based on the attention of the owner. Pick a subject, choose affiliate items, get a free website, make a webpage, get it on search engines, make money. Any subject. It can be an item, hobby, games, craft, sport, pet, location, lifestyle, any subject at all. I dont care if its collecting unicorns or watching hummingbirds. It can be something you know a lot about or it can be something you WANT to know a lot about. Is there something that you bug your friends because when you get on the topic you talk about it way too much?

Lets say that its golf. You setup a web page then you search for affiliations on the topic of golf. You can offer golf equipment, training videos, books, funny tshirts with golf sayings on them, etc etc.

Then you need to get attention to your site. You can try out and write reviews on everything you offer on your site. You can link to news and how-to articles about golf. You can add a discussion forum about golf, you can do a newsletter that people sign up for which covers hot golf news items (and mentions new items in your shop). Do you begin to see why it needs to be something you love?

A couple of strong affiliate programs are Amazon.com and CafePress.com, or you can go to CommissionJunction or LinkShare to shop thru their affiliates. These work because the companies know that a "golf" site is better for selling "golf" items. Check those out and think "can I pitch this better than they are pitching it".

Whatever subject you pick, you can make it THE site to go to for information on that subject. Those are the sites that work. The ones that the person is in love with. When you get a subject, come back and ask how you can build an internet biz around it.

Do you mean in terms of ownership structuring? I posted links to the Secretary of State for each state, just in case that’s what you’re looking for.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

What are the sure things, selling, giving advice, blogs? I want to make money and fill up my time

I know a lot about this topic so please forgive the length of this reply. I have a lot of good info for you. I am a mother of two little girls who are actually tugging on my arm as I write this so I will try to be brief. Many people are looking for work from home companies. All the scams definitely create a big problem but also, there is a problem of people misunderstanding the difference between work from home "jobs" and work from home opportunities. There really are not work from home “jobs”. To get that you have to start working for a company in their offices first, then they MAY allow you to take the job home.

Most of the work from home opportunities that are legitimate offers are not an hourly pay type job. They are business opportunities that help you in starting your own business from your home.

What you should do first is to decide if you are simply looking for an hourly rate type job or if you are looking for more of an opportunity for additional income such as what you would make in your own business being your own boss from home. Many say a JOB stands for Just Over Broker and I have found that to be true as well. I never got anywhere working for others.

Small home businesses have some small costs involved, less then $100 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting $300, $500 even some asking for $1000-$5000. It doesn’t cost that much to start and run a home business so you shouldn’t pay it. The real ones will have a small monthly overhead as well. Should be around $50 a month but no more then $75. And everything should be included from your web sites to training and team support to back office accounting and booking. It’s ok to pay this overhead because it’s a business, they cost money. It’s not reasonable to assume you can run a business from home with a website and more for free so do keep that in mind as you search.

If you are coming across places that say free then I would RUN don’t walk the other way! They never are. I tried them many a times and 3 weeks later I had to buy this and 6 weeks later that. After 6 months these “free businesses” had cost me over $800 on average.

I’m a stay at home mom of two little girls as I mentioned, ages 1 and 3. I work about 15-18 hours per week for a National Medical Benefits Company. This is a home business, a nationally known and reputable home business which is what you need to make sure you are looking for. I have been with the company almost a year now and I make over $2000 a month! In your first month, depending on how many hours you can work, I have seen people make anywhere from $300 to over $3000. And your income will increase each month because we get paid residual income as well. If I continue on as I am going at the end of the year I will be making $5000 a month. My friend Becky from South Carolina started 2 years before me and she is now making $95,000 a year with this company.

The best part is they have 401(k), direct deposit, life insurance and a benefits package most of which you get from day one. In addition, there are no products, no hard selling or pushing, no cold calling, no home parties and no telemarketing! That was VERY important to me.

I absolutely love working with them and I can’t believe I am making what I am making and in so few hours per week. The neat thing is there are other people on your team that you work with so you are never alone. You have great team support and you get to know the other people on your team pretty well. The support is great but I have made wonderful friends as well. I think that’s important too, especially being at home!

I was a bit apprehensive at first because I know a lot of companies are not legit but this company is the number one National Medical Benefits Company in the US. They are a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Dental Plans and the owner of the company actually sits on the board of The Consumer Health Alliance to which we are also members. Also they were featured in “The New York Times”, “Wall Street Journal” “Time Magazine” and the “American Medical Review”. Even “60 Minutes” with Morley Safer did a big special on this home based business.

Even more then all this is they are accepted at over 100,000 retailers nation wide. These are fortune 500 companies like Sears, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Wal-mart, Publix and more. These companies would never work with a company that was any thing less then reputable. That made me feel very good about working with them knowing they were accepted at these stores that I frequent. Also now of course being with them I get the dental and vision benefits for free and I saved over $150 on my last visit to the dentist! That’s just a beautiful perk! : – )

When I first started I just felt very safe with them, that and my friend was already making so much money with Ameriplan. But at this point I feel a sense of security financially that our family has never had before. That plus LOVING what you do? What could be better?

Check them out! Just type in www.workathomeplus.net in your web browser.

advertise. Any one who has done this before, is there any advice you have.

There is no better way to market your internet business then properly structuring the content of your business website. Doing it correctly can save you a lot of money and generate more income then you can imagine. The web host that I use has a great web page about the proper structure of a successful website http://ctpm.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html or you can see a tutorial video about structuring at http://videotour.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html

BEST WISHES!

So many different things to check out in making sure a business is a good one to get involved in. If the business feels right to you, and all questions are answered, then I’d say jump in. Running a business is different then a job though. You have to treat it like it’s your child and not just something your going to "try" you have to believe in the product and service and go at it full force. This is your future your talking about, no one else’s. Here’s a few things that you should take a look at before getting involved in any company. This is what my husband and I looked into before starting ours. It will give you an example of things to check out.
1. How long have they been in business? We checked to see how long our company was around, at the time it was nine years old and now it’s 15. Do you know when they started?
2. Are they registered with the BBB. Ours is registered. I think this is important one.
3. Who’s involved with the company? Like in ours Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki has endorsed our company. Check to see if anyone has endorsed this company. Also, meet with the co-founders. We’ve personally met our co-founders and found from our first meeting that they were incredible people with incredible visions. See if their’s a time where you can meet them. If your going to be doing business, there should be a time where you should have the chance to meet with them.
4. What is the compensation plan now, and what was it like before.
See the history of the comp plan and see if increases and never decreases in it’s history. We checked with the records in our business and found that in over the years, the compensation plan had only gotten better each year. As long as we’ve been involved, we’ve now witnessed the compensation plan always increasing. Check the history on yours.
5.Have they been featured in magazine’s? For instance our company has been featured in several magazines Like Success, Fortune, USA Today etc. Check to see if they have. You can get a lot of information on the company by reading about them.
6. Has Inc 500 rated them? This magazine or slit rated our company the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it’s first 5 years. Inc 500 shows the top 500 businesses in revenue growth. Check to see what Inc 500 rated the company your looking at.
7. Do they have a physical address that you can go to? Check for an address not just a P.O. Box
8. Where are their headquarters? Our world headquarters is in Farmington Hills Michigan, Personally been there, (If your here in the states) Other headquarters in different countries. and US headquarters in Charlotte.
9. What does the start up cost take care of? In my business headquarters takes care of all the billing for my customers, Inventory, Customer services, Order Entry, Employees, workman’s comp, Cross referencing, Licensing, Insurance, paperwork, accounts payables, accounts receivables etc.
10. What is the product and service you would be selling.
Is the product and service in high demand? For instance we offer services that people are already using every day and paying for anyway, but at a lower cost. Things like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, cellular phones through all the major cellular providers. We make a percentage every single month they pay their bills. Everyone uses them and everyone pays for them. When money gets tight, would they keep your service or be able to run to the store and be able to purchase them on sale? Leaving you to have to wait until they run out of what they just purchased, or wait until their finances get settled? This is what I mean by high demand.

I hope my examples of what we looking into with our business helps you be able to find the same answers in your business. Forget about asking the common question and asking someone how much they make in their business to determine if you’d get involved in it or not. In a business, it doesn’t matter what one business is making over another. It only matters what you do in "YOUR" business. I hate it when people ask me how much I make. Because they’re not going to walk into and start up their business making what I make. I’ve been involved with my business for over six years. So yeah, I will make more. If you tell someone how much you make, then it’s a psychological thing that they expect to make that amount in a week, and that is just not going to happen. Six years of building a business verses 1 day. So don’t even ask. Look at the possibilities for YOURSELF.

Like another poster on here I have noticed the lack of experience, but I do want to point out that while large companies have been around for 20-50 years, e-commerce companies haven’t had the same opportunities or time frame to create such experience. Many do indeed take the two year flop and disapear, but there are those that stick around and have large success. With the coming e-commerce boom many of those that are already established or soon get established will do just fine if not very well.
Now to answer the question since I’ve babbled for a moment. I do know of a few Internet Home Businesses that do indeed work. Most do take some time and effort, but also produce results. Anything that doesn’t take time and/or effort is most likely too good to be true. If you would like additional information on some of the companies/opportunities that I have researched or been a part of feel free to send me an email at your convenience. The reason I am not posting such information is because I don’t beleive in spamming or anything of the sort because it takes away credibility, similar to signs posted on telephone poles that claim you can make $1000’s every minute if you call that person immediatly. So my email is duh_pariah_papaya@yahoo.com, and I’d gladly pass some information along to you if you would like. Otherwise I hope I’ve helped to answer your question and good luck in whatever you pursue.

My sister and I have been working hard the last 8 months on our health and wellness website. We have an informative site that promotes helping the body heal itself. We offer a unique inventory of health supplements at very little mark up to stay competitive with large e-pharmacies. We have helpful self-evaluations, a diet diary, a family health history and extensive information on the natural remedies we offer.
We have listed on all the directories we know of, have honed our lists of keywords and use pay-per-click. We are getting up to 2000 hits or more a month with very few purchases. Everyone we know loves the site (even the tech support guys and warehouse personnel who deal with us).
Is there anyone out there who have had success selling health supplents on the web who has any sage advise for us?

I can write an entire ebook right here and now to respond to this properly.

First off, how’s your rank in the search engines.Don’t listen to people saying it takes 5 years to start making money…WRONG!

You guys can improve your ranking instantly. Work on pagerank. Make sure your articles have the title at the top in bold and make sure the title has the keyword in it. Make sure the link for the articles you have on your website is named with the title/keyword.

To increase your pagerank right away, you can submit your own press release to prweb.com and create a blog or two with your articles and keywords.

Try submitting some of your original articles to health related websites. Create strategic alliances with other health related websites.

As mentioned, you’ll want to capture visitors names and emails so you can follow up with them and keep in touch. The sale is in the follow-up as they build rapport with you. Not to mention repeat sales.

Create a podcast and add it to all the podcasting directories. Create a viral marketing effect. If I knew which site was yours I’d be able to give you more specific advice.
